Some of these electric car companies (Dynasty Electric Vehicles, Global Electric Motorcars, Lang Motors, and Zenn), only produce electric vehicles suitable for local city driving where the speeds are low (typically 50 km/h or less), and the range is 50 miles or less. The remaining electric car companies (REVA, Tesla, and Think) produce electric vehicles that are capable of speeds of 100 km/h or greater, with a range greater than 150 km.
If you decide to purchase an electric vehicle make sure the area you live in permits it, as not all jurisdictions allow electric vehicles on public roads (especially if they are only capable of low speeds). In addition, make sure that you are geographically close to service centers, which can provide parts and repair.
